"Songs of Passion" a été conçu par Thomas Dunford et Lea Desandre comme un parcours sentimental au fil d'oeuvres vocales et instrumentales de deux merveilleux compositeurs anglais, Dowland et Purcell. Tous deux ont su célébrer l'amour, Dowland avec ses mélodies raffinées et mélancoliques Purcell avec les premiers opéras baroques Didon et Enée ou Fairy Queen - et leurs airs bouleversants, magnifiquement interprétés par Lea Desandre, l'ensemble Jupiter sous la direction inspirée de Thomas Dunford rejoints aussi par Hugh Montague Rendall, Laurence Kilsby, Alex Rosen et Jess Dandy. Ce disque tient un peu de l'album de famille dans sa manière de rassembler un cercle de personnes qui partagent un langage musical commun.
